Day 18 Negreira to Olveiroa (34KM)

I started walking this morning with the stars and a moon sliver as my companions. I ended walking by meeting a Croatian, Brit, and Australian. I left the albergue early, and in the dark missed a marker that added a few hundred meters to my total distance. I stopped for a coffee and snack just as the sun came up over the hills and started warming things up - that being said, I walked in my long sleeve shirt for 8 hours today. The clouds and wind kept the day cool. The beauty of the landscape kept me fascinated for hours of walking. The spreading of manure in the fields kept me awake with the smell. After about 5 hours i stopped for another coffee and chatted with a British guy for awhile, at the end of walking at a cafe he introduced me to two people he met walking the Frances Way. The Croatian insisted I join their threesome for dinner. So while I walked alone for part of the day, I have connected to a new group. I miss walking with Don - our talks, his perspective. When I decided to walk to Finisterre, he decided to walk part of the Portuguese way with his college friends. I look forward to meeting up on the plane in a week and sharing stories! The landscape today resembled more of the walking before Ourense, which is where we were last Sunday. And the Sunday before Edith and I walked from Villar de Farfón to Asturianos, and along the way we had a great meal of hospitality. Tomorrow I think I will walk to the end of the world, as I will do the next 36KM to Finisterre. Until next time, Buen Camino!
