Taking Time and Losing Hair

One of the ways I want to walk this time is by making time for spur of the moment opportunities. This morning I walked past a barber’s shop in a small village, and I noticed the barber sitting in his chair reading the newspaper. After about 50 meters I stopped to take a picture of an old fountain with a shell, and I realized this was one of those moments of opportunity. I’m sure getting a haircut doesn’t sound too adventurous, yet taking time out to do this was something new for me. Not having any Portugués beyond please and thank you I ventured into the shop and motioned for a hair cut. He was probably just as surprised as me. It was fun... and a bit humbling. I have tried to ignore the hair thinning on top of my head, and even though we didn’t share a same language, it was pretty obvious he was telling me it was thinning and laughing about it. I laughed, too, but not too much because I didn’t want him to make it any thinner. I know this is not a deeply spiritually moving post, yet I’m also aware that part of this journey is about being in the moment and experiencing joy in that moment. I had quite a few deep thoughts today, yet didn’t have a chance to write them down yet. Maybe tomorrow. Ultreia (e Suseia) Dan
